The learning process can be done in various ways. There are many social institutions that use different learning methods. Although using different ways of learning, each institution has the same goal of forming intelligent and active students. There are many instructional media that can be used by students to support the learning. One of them is the internet. Internet is the media of learning that is being rapidly adopted by students to help them in doing their task however, students often do not know that the Internet provides many other facilities to help them in learning. This research carried out for three goals discussion. First, the study sought to determine the forms of Internet use among students EED UMY. Second, this study aimed to investigate the reasons why students use the internet and the last to know the benefits of students in learning as using the internet. To understand the influence of the Internet for students in the learning, research conducted on students in EED UMY on 22 May 2012. This study was conducted by questionnaire to collect data. Besides questionnaire, an interview was also conducted to obtain accurate data on the benefits of using the Internet in learning. Based on the data that is disclosed via the questionnaire, students are less aware of the influence of internet in their learning. It can be known by students rarely use the internet for learning and they tend to use the Internet only when they have a job. Besides that students rarely take use the parts of the internet to learn English. Based on the data which is revealed through interviews, students have the benefit of hard skill and soft skills of Internet use.
